Every site is slightly different, all having a combination of individual trading units offering food and coffee services, retail and fuel but the opportunities are exactly the same.

Site General Manager
As General Manager you are in charge of the sites day-to-day running, responsible for driving sales, operational standards, and ensuring brand compliance whilst developing your team. You will also take responsibility for achieving budgeted forecasts/sales.
On your site you will operate a number of famous brands such as Costa Coffee, Burger King, WHSmiths, BP Forecourt, Eat and Drink Company, and Marks and Spencer’s Simply Foods. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will develop key relationships with all Head Office support functions including HR, Finance and all the brand support functions all of which can assist you in achieving your overall goal.
You are responsible for ensuring the recruitment process on your site meets Company standards, driving the training strategy for every department and ensuring that all employees irrespective of the brand are trained to the required level to ensure that operational brand standards are delivered. You will work with your team of managers to ensure that each one has the skills to meet the succession needs of the site.
Responsible for the Profit and Loss account for the site, you are continually looking for ways to drive spend and to grow transactions. We work closely with our partners to ensure that we operate the brands in line with the agreement in place and not just the standards required by Moto. Working with the teams you will be sure that brand standards are maintained and the customer experience is a positive one.
Deputy General Manager
This is a development role reporting to the Site General Manager.
The ideal candidate will be capable of promotion to a General Manager position within 6 – 12 months and will be sufficiently mobile to take up an appointment at a small site. Whilst responsible for your own department you will take the additional responsibility to support a number of operating departments. Working with the manager you will ensure the achievement of operational standards and brand compliance as well as delivering budgeted profit.
To be successful in this role, you will have managed high volume units, in both retail and catering, responsible for managing all cost lines. In addition, you will have a proven track record of success in delivering outstanding operational results, preferably in a branded environment.
As Deputy General Manager you will be provided with a structured Personal Induction Programme, for which they are personally responsible for ensuring development targets are achieved.
In the absence of the General Manager, the Deputy General Manager will take full responsibility for the site. To support their development and to extend their range of experiences Deputy General Managers will also from time to time cover for General Managers at other sites for periods of holiday and other absences.
Retail / Store Manager
Totally responsible for one of our retail businesses, whether that be Marks and Spencer's Simply Food store, WH Smiths store manager or running one of our forecourts our motorway service areas can offer the opportunity we operate many different retail brands and to be part of the Moto team.
Your role will include; all recruitment for your department, manpower planning and for ensuring that all labour budgets, forecasts and ratios meet company targets. You will take a positive proactive approach to training across the department and to ensure that all members of the team are given the training to both undertake their role and to develop them. You will need to build a team with the skills to meet the succession needs of the department and to ensure a plan is in place to meet any shortfalls. You will need to ensure that company appraisal and job talk processes are completed with all team members.
As well as being responsible for the people within your team you are fully responsible for the results of your department. Whether that be proactively manage margins and achieve company drift targets, looking for ways to drive average spend and for growing transactions.
You will be fully responsible and accountable for the Operational and Service Standards. Its down to you to ensure that all employees in the departments understand the brand standards and work with these at all time. Restaurant Manager
EDC - our own brand free flow restaurant, Burger King, Costa Coffee and Upper Crust - career opportunities for catering professionals to run one of our branded restaurants.

Assistant Manager
As Assistant Department Manager it is your role to support the Department Manger to ensure that the whole team are focussed on driving sales, driving Operational standards, ensuring brand compliance and to support the Manager to develop the team and to deliver budgeted profit.
You will be part of the site management team and be involved in a range of management duties as delegated to you by your Manger. This will include, undertaking interviews , monitoring staffing levels on a day to day basis and delivering training to your teams. Involved in all aspects of communication within your team you will get involved in team briefings and appraisals.
Working with the Department Manager to actively encourage the team to drive sales and to monitor costs as directed. To work with the team to sell up where ever possible and through practical steps to help drive average spend for the unit. To be responsible for ensuring that all basic cost controls are in place. You will need to ensure that all supervisors and team members in the departments are aware of the required brand standards at all time and to monitor day to day operating performance.

Supervisory Opportunities
Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Moto provides some excellent career opportunities. We need a team of supervisors to run the day to day operations on the shop floor and this is where your management career can get started.
At Moto a Supervisor is responsible for the running of a shift in any of our brands. It will be your responsibility to co ordinate the team to be sure that all work is completed and that our customers get the absolute best service. Organising the cashing up or the cleaning, planning the breaks or allocating the work, are all tasks you will be involved in. In addition you will get involved in the day to day jobs of the unit, supervising the customer service assistants and ensuring that our customers get the best service we can give them.
Customer Service Assistants
Customer Service Assistants are vital to our business. On the front line, they are the face of Moto to our customers on a day to day basis. Opportunities exists on our sites across the UK for full time, part time, weekends or week days, day time or night shifts, permanent or temporary contracts.
Don’t worry if you have not previous experience. We’re looking for individuals who have a positive attitude, who enjoy working with people, who like to be busy and like to work as part of a great team – we can train you to do the the rest.
If you join us in this role you can expect to be involved in a whole range of duties. Look at the restaurant brands we operate. Burger King, Costa Coffee, Eat and Drink Company and Upper Crust to name but a few. The style of service may differ but the work involved is similar, providing our customers with excellent service and refreshments. Cash handling, food preparation and cleaning duties are also involved as is preparing and serving coffees and other drinks, all of this is a days work.
In our retail shops, WH Smiths and Marks & Spencer Simply Food no day is the same. You will be there to provide excellent service to our customers, providing assistance wherever you can, operating a till, restocking shelves and fridges, cleaning and merchandising the stock.
In our petrol forecourts you can expect to get involved in all the same jobs as our retail shops but in addition you will be monitoring the forecourt, authorising the dispense of petrol and taking account of the health and safety of our employees and our customers.
Administration Roles

Roles at Head Office
Commercial
Our commercial team manages a range of diverse income streams in the business including parking, rents and gaming machines to name but a few. The team provides all the financial planning, analysis and reporting information in these areas and potential new revenue streams. Opportunities exist for individuals who have strong commercial awareness and enjoy analytical thinking.
Finance
The Finance team are an integral part of Moto providing financial support and challenge. All roles within Finance are broad and far reaching and as you can imagine, this area offers a spectrum of interesting and challenging career paths. With all sorts of different jobs to consider, ranging from financial control, analysis and reporting to accounts processing and payroll this is an ideal career choice for individuals who want to be at the heart of our business as we move forward.
Human Resources

Information Technology
IT plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the operating business and its processes through the effective deployment of IT; managing the technology infrastructure in a cost effective manner; managing the initiation of projects including leading feasibility studies and/or trials; providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support to the business; ensuring accurate data is always available through our EPOS system. Our IT department offers great opportunities for further development in roles at all levels.
Marketing and Catering

The marketing department offers great career opportunities across our brand management and food development teams. Operations Support and Customer Services
The role of Operations Support is a broad one providing a truly comprehensive support service. As their name suggests, they support all our retail operations to ensure our sites are fully up to speed with all communications from Head Office. If you are looking for a challenging administrative role that forms a vital link with our frontline, then this is the department for you.
Although we don’t receive complaints often at Head Office when we do our customer services team liaises with departments across the business to resolve queries promptly, courteously and to the customer’s complete satisfaction. An essential ingredient needed for anyone interested in joining this team is a genuine passion for doing the right thing for customers.
PA / Secretarial and Admin
Providing the full range of administrative and secretarial support to teams across our business, these roles are key to keeping Moto running smoothly. In such a large organisation, every small detail can make a big difference. We rely on our enthusiastic, conscientious PA’s, Secretaries and Administrators to help provide exceptional support. There’s a tremendous range of opportunities on offer – from providing professional support to senior teams as a Personal Assistant, to compiling information and reports as an Administrator. Depending on the role you’re looking to take on, you’ll need to offer relevant experience in a similarly fast-paced commercial environment. What’s essential to every job is a positive attitude, keen eye for detail and the adaptability to pitch in wherever you’re needed.
Property/Support Centre
As we continue to grow our business and stay ahead of the competition, we need great people to build, renovate and look after our motorway service area sites throughout the country. Our aim is to maintain the very best motorway service areas that provide an oasis for our customers on their journeys. We achieve this by planning and managing site investments and refurbishments which can range from giving a site a lick of paint to a complete face lift.
In support of this our property department works closely with our Support Centre in ensuring the highest level of maintenance support is provided at all times. The Support Centre team coordinates all maintenance calls from sites and ensures that all calls are resolved within the timeframes of our SLA’s with our own regional maintenance engineers and the various third party specialist contractors that we work closely with.
Retail / Fuel
Like our marketing department our retail team works hard to build successful relationships with leading brands in the business, most notably WHSmith, M&S Simply Food and BP. Opportunities in the team range from category management to layout and space planning. Our retail team works closely with the Marketing team to ensure we capitalise on and develop our brand awareness at every opportunity. We are looking for people who have a passion to work with some of the most prominent brands in the retail industry and relish the challenges and pace that come with it.
