Moto launches healthier food options for children
31 August 2005
The move comes with a revamped “Pick ‘n Mix” offer, now from chilled cabinets, which means yoghurt, fruit drinks and fresh fruit are available as part of the popular offer for the first time. Ambient shelving attached to the cabinets provide healthy low-fat and salt-free versions of traditional snacks such as crisps.
The new offer, branded “Good to Grow,” also includes a “Make Your Own Sandwich” option that allows children to choose bread or crackers with a choice of soft cheese, jam, Nutella or Marmite. The do-it-yourself option counts as one item towards the five items that make up the wallet-healthy £2.99 “Pick ‘n Mix” offer, with the choice of a free apple, banana or orange as an addition. Ready-made sandwiches, baby tomatoes, strawberries and grapes are also available as part of the “Good to Grow” offer.
Moto’s managing director Brian Lotts said: “Everyone knows that travelling with children is particularly arduous and the introduction of this revamped food offer especially for youngsters is another way of Moto helping to make the journey better for our customers.
“We first introduced Pick ‘n Mix three years ago and it has proved extremely popular. The addition of a chilled food range is a natural extension and has given us the opportunity to bring in healthier food options that we believe will be popular with children.”
The new chilled “Pick ‘n Mix” is currently being trialled at Moto’s Cherwell Valley service area on the M40 in Oxfordshire and will be rolled out across 22 of the company’s major sites within the next two months.
