Staff and Customers at Moto take on a TREEmendous Challenge

22 August 2005

Moto sites will be carrying out a host of fun, family activities for staff and customers to try achieve their target of raising £30,000 for the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. To enter into the spirit, staff will be in fancy dress plus there will be colouring competitions for children, treasure hunts and leaf painting. Collection buckets and tins will be available.

If we reach our goal of raising £30,000, this will pay for more than 3,000 new trees to be planted and cared for in the 1,000 areas of woodland managed by the Woodland Trust around the UK. Moto staff and their families will be invited to take part in tree-planting events in your area later this year.

Moto sites have been challenged to come up with the most innovative way to raise money – and the individual who has the best idea will be rewarded by having a new tree dedicated to them by the Woodland Trust!

Ioan Reed-Aspley from the Woodland Trust says:

“We are absolutely delighted that Moto is fundraising for us! £30,000 is a large amount of money to raise in just five days, and we wish them the very best of luck. We hope that this fundraising event will be the first of a long-term relationship between Moto and the Woodland Trust, enabling staff and customers at Moto to make a real difference in the environment around them.”

“Trees and woodland are crucial to life on our planet. They generate oxygen, play host to a spectacular variety of wildlife and provide us with raw materials and shelter. They offer us tranquillity, inspire us and refresh our souls. The money raised by Moto will help us to continue our work growing and protecting these precious habitats.”

Brian Lotts, Managing Director of Moto says:

“We are delighted to be working with the Woodland Trust for the TREEmendous challenge. Our staff will be involved in planting the trees at Woodland Trust sites later this year, and they are very excited about our first partnership with an environmental charity. All of us at Moto care about the environment we live in and are thrilled to have this opportunity to give something back.”

In the past 6 years Moto staff have raised £750,000 for charitable causes. The Woodland Trust TREEmendous Challenge will run for five days, from 25th to 29th August inclusive. During this time all fund-raising will be in aid of the Woodland Trust.
