Motorway Service Areas - The new place to shop
27 April 2005
Moto, Britain’s biggest motorway service area operator, has teamed up with Marks and Spencer to open Simply Food stores at six of its sites. And nine more are in the pipeline.
The Marks and Spencer Simply Food stores follow the same successful format that can be found on the high street and in places like major railway stations.
In addition to sandwiches and snacks, they sell convenience meals, fresh fruit and vegetables, salads, milk, juice, mineral water and even fresh flowers.
Brian Lotts, Moto’s Managing Director, said: “The face of Britain’s motorway service areas has been fundamentally changing over the last few years and we believe that the introduction of the Marks and Spencer Simply Food stores will alter still further the way people use our sites.
“In addition to increasing the choice of food on the move for people on long journeys, they also provide the perfect solution for people who need to top up their weekly shop on they way home.
“That has to be a big bonus for busy women because it means they don’t have to think about diverting into the local town when all they need is a few items to get the family over the next couple of days.”
The Marks and Spencer Simply Food stores can be found at the following Moto service areas: Cherwell Valley (M40, Junc 10); Reading Westbound (M4, Junc 11-12); Knutsford (M6, Junc 19); Leigh Delamere West & Eastbound (M4, Junc 17-18) and Stafford (M6, Junc 14-15.)
Drivers can easily identify the sites from the “Moto Marks and Spencer Simply Food” branding that appears on the information boards half a mile before every service area.
