Moto wins again in Tommy's Parent Friendly Awards
31 March 2005
The annual awards are voted on by members of the public and are given to businesses and organisations that have gone out of their way to make themselves easily accessible and usable by parents with toddlers and tots.
More than half a million people voted in the poll to put Moto ahead of Welcome Break and Little Chef, the other contenders for the title of “Best Motorway Services or Restaurant,” for the second year in a row.
Brian Lotts, Moto’s managing director, said: “To win this prestigious award for the second time in succession is a true accolade for our people and the service we offer. A lot of time and effort has gone into making our service areas the stop of choice for people travelling with children and to win another Tommy’s award is proof that we really are ‘making it better’ for our family customers.”
Moto pioneered the concept of taking some of the stress out of travelling on long distance journeys with its Motokids and Motobaby packages.
Every Moto Fresh Express restaurant has free Organix baby food as well as purpose-built baby feeding areas that feature a microwave to heat baby food safely, disposable bowls, cutlery and bottle warmers so even the tiniest of tots can be fed in comfort.
Motobaby changing rooms offer clean and colourful surroundings in which both mum and dad can change baby’s nappy.
Motokids offers under-nines a choice of either a pick ‘n mix selection of five snacks or a hot meal for a wallet-healthy £2.99. Whatever the choice, free balloons and windmills promise to make every stop at Moto a fun experience.
Relaxing Mum and Dad hasn’t been forgotten either. Fresh Express restaurants all feature passive play areas where youngsters can amuse themselves watching cartoons, colouring or enjoying skill games while their parents eat in peace.
Jane Brewin, Chief Executive of Tommy’s, said, “One of Tommy’s aims is to make life less stressful for parents and parents-to-be so we are proud to be able to uncover the most parent friendly organisations that are giving parents with young children a helping hand. There’s still work to be done to make Britain even more parent friendly, but so far Tommy’s have credited over 150 companies in the UK with our parent friendly stamp of approval and would like to think we’re setting examples of best practice that will encourage more companies to follow suit”.
The awards were presented at a glittering lunch at Claridge’s Hotel, London, by a host of celebrities that included Esther Rantzen, Donna Air and Tamara Beckwith.
