Moto has the best loos on the motorway - and the awards to prove it!
07 December 2004
Organisers of the annual Loo of the Year Awards voted Moto’s facilities the top in England, Scotland and Wales in a new category specifically for motorway service areas and also awarded the company the title of Best Corporate Provider as well as the prestigious Overall Standard of Excellence.
Judges who paid secret visits to the loos at every one of Moto’s sites were so impressed by the exceptional levels of cleanliness and hygiene they found, they had no hesitation in declaring them the best on the motorway network.
Donington Park on the M1 in the East Midlands was named as having the best motorway loos in England with Kinross on the M90 in Perthshire winning the title for Scotland and Cardiff West on the M4 winning it for Wales.
In addition, seven individual Moto sites carried off five-star awards and further 41 were given four-star awards.
It's the third year in a row that Moto has cleaned up at the annual awards, which exist to promote the importance of spotless public toilets.
Operations Director Brian Larkin said: "We're absolutely delighted with these results which mean Moto has the cleanest toilets on the UK motorway network. We've wiped the floor with the opposition - and that's a glowing tribute to the hard work and dedication put in by our cleaning staff.
"Around 100 million people a year use the toilets in our service areas and because they’re open round the clock, every single day of the year, keeping them clean is a mammoth task. But hygienically spotless, fresh smelling toilets are a vital part of our customer care package and the people who look after them do a first-rate job."
Competition judges visited more than 1,000 public toilets all over Britain, scrutinising cleanliness, overall management, signage, accessibility, décor and the standard of fixtures and fittings.
