MOTO LAUNCH BIG DRINK DEAL FOR TRUCKERS
22 January 2003
Top motorway service area chain Moto has underlined its continuing commitment to truckers with the launch of a special deal that gives them a large hot drink for less than a pound.
The move is the latest in a series of initiatives that the service area operator has launched in recent months under the banner “Making It Better For Truckers.”
Buying 100 litres of fuel gives drivers the chance to buy a “Moto Trucker” branded insulated mug for £2.49. Then, every time they fill the mug with any 350ml hot drink at a Moto forecourt it will cost just 99p.
Tim Moss, Moto’s managing director, said: “The Moto Trucker’s drinks deal is the latest move in our on-going efforts to improve the facilities and services we offer professional drivers, which we believe help make us the stop of choice for the discerning trucker.
“We regularly talk to truckers to judge how they rate us and we even sent a senior manager on the road with an HGV driver so we could learn at first hand the problems they face.”
Earlier last year, (2002) Moto introduced a no-strings-attached meal deal that means truckers can enjoy any hot meal or salad, plus any hot drink, in Moto’s Fresh Express restaurants for £3.99. All they have to do is ask for a voucher – for which no purchase is required – at the forecourt.
Another popular feature launched by Moto is a series of dedicated lounges for truck drivers at some of its busiest sites. The “Road Pro” range of merchandise, offering everything from mini television sets to clothes, has been brought into forecourt shops.
Mr Moss added: “We are committed to making life on the road as comfortable as possible for truck drivers. They are very important to our business and we are one of the few motorway service area operators who recognise that.”
